WHERE FAITH IS REAL

by Ps Don Krause

You cannot attend Kuta International Christian Church without sensing that for this congregation faith is real. Their worship resonates with life, the preaching is vital, the people greet each other enthusiastically, and they welcome people from all backgrounds happily. They love God and they love everyone who comes.

Almost twenty years ago some Bali Christian leaders recognized that many English speaking business people came to Bali to work. Tourists from English speaking countries began to flock to this island as well. Their spiritual needs had to be met, so an English speaking church birthed out of that need. A pleasant and welcome surprise has been the many English speaking Indonesians who not only attend but who serve very capably in various ministries within the church.

Obviously, in its early stages, the few interested attendees could not provide wages for a full time minister. A unique pastoral model emerged: retired, volunteer ministers from English speaking countries were invited to become short term shepherds of the church. This model continues with pastors giving an average of three to five months of their time to preach and serve as consultants to the church.

Having just become autonomous in September of 2010, ministries are being put into place to be able to better care for the growing numbers of individuals and families choosing to affiliate with Kuta International Christian Church.

KICC plans to expand its outreach into the Kuta community.
